Civic Center Park
The lush and, in the summer, pleasantly shady Civic Center Park is located in the center of Denver. It is designed in the classical style and has several monuments. Around the park’s periphery are located the state of Colorado’s major administrative buildings. The longest street in America, Colfax Avenue, which runs 26 miles from east to west across Denver, runs along its northern edge.
One of the most complete and unaltered designs from the City Beautiful era still exists today is Civic Center. The nonprofit Civic Center Conservancy, whose goal is to preserve this important public place alive and thriving for all, works to ensure that Civic Center Park’s preservation is realized as being significant to both Denver’s historic legacy and its modern-day vitality.
